Self-Scare

I woke up this morning and scared myself. The day's activities were to include writing a check for a bill, so while I brewed up some coffee I reached for my wallet pouch in my purse and there wasn't one--anywhere. The purse contents landed in a heap on the couch. Nothing. Then, I remembered yesterday I bought a nifty upsizing item at the resale shop in the building here--was that where I left it? Frantic paging through Dock resident info notebook for a person to open the little shop early on a Saturday morning. Rapid dressing. Abandoned coffee-making. Grabbing my keys out of the pile on the couch, I turned and brushed against a chair back and there was the wallet pouch hanging there! Oy.

Coffee isn't important now. The adrenalin did it.

That was Saturday morning. Now it's Monday evening. Calmer times--today especially.

There were curtains up and heavy mirrors hung to celebrate...

Dock gives new residents one hour of free handyman labor.

A letter pinned to the door said that next week this hallway of apartments will have the windows washed by a contractor. Inside and out! I'm astonished. Yay.

Sandy texted a .jpg she made of a recipe she found in some of Aunt Hilda's belongings she was going through...

Aunt Hilda's typing, I'm sure.
Wendy texted a vulture photo. She and Aidan saw them hanging out in a tree at the woods' edge. They reported that there were many more of them just out of sight. All had their wings spread.

Maybe they needed a rest time like some friends of ours...

Keoni was home for the holiday weekend. He, Aidan and I had a nice walk around the farm together...

The neighbor's adjoining field was mowed and baled. I asked Aidan and Keoni to stand by a bale to give a sense of the size...

...so they got on top of one...

Then, schooling began again. Keoni texted this panorama from Lincoln Center at sunset this evening...

From Marge who texted over a butterfly caterpillar in her backyard...

Along with some of its friends, they devoured the parsley. Then, they left. I understand that next year Marge and Pat are going to grow a whole parsley patch and find milkweed seeds to plant for the Monarchs.
Wendy caught up lots of mowing since the weather is dry (for here, anyway)...

A little more drawing recently...

The goddess of fall colors is freshening up her palate again...
