"OH, YOU CAN'T HELP THAT," SAID THE CAT, "WE'RE ALL MAD HERE."

The heat is on. Our blue planet's northern hemisphere is scorching. A week ago Pennsylvania's enormous, abundant trees were every shade of green. Their shadows in morning mist a deep, deep vibrant, electric blue. This week they are showing signs of chlorophyll drain in the heat and sparse rains. Their highlights show a tinge of fall color--slight, yet visible in the morning light.

Yesterday hired staff moved beds around for Marge and I and we now have the basics of furnishings in place for me to live here. Steadily, I've added small loads of this and that over the past several weeks. If something heavy needs schlepping Aidan is my man. He finishes off the job with a ride on the stair chair lift between the first and second floors.

Midweek, there was music entertainment at a nearby park. A friend and I went together and enjoyed the music. She knew what the songs were and I didn't which doesn't matter much because I don't mind when it is fun to listen to the instrumental parts and has a sexy beat.

Aidan and I went to the park for him to practice for the upcoming soccer season. He continues to meet some of his buddies there and lately the destination has been at fields behind one of the supermarkets. That gives me a place to sit with coffee and a book in the A/C. Plus, our particular supermarket choice has terrific giant cookies. Speaking of A/C, I'm overnighting here at Marge's enjoying same.

A hawk swooped into the area behind the farmhouse a couple mornings ago. It sat for about 10-12 minutes on the pasture fence watching the hens and Toby and Patches cross the yard from the barn area to the back deck/porch. \ It flew away finally. The young chickens are still in the barn so no harm done.

I am sorry the porch screen was in between my iPhone and the hawk.

Wendy and Aidan carry jugs of frozen water out to the poults in the barn and set them where a fan blows over them to swoosh some coolness at the young birds.
