Louisville was one of our destinations, both for a look at Falls of the Ohio State Park across the river at Clarksville, Indiana, where the visitor center turned out to be shuttered for renovation. Had a great view of the swollen river though. Especially from the railroad bridge that is now a pedestrian/bicycle bridge.

It wasn't near this mark, however. |
 |
Hints of spring with the red leaf buds now evident. |
 |
Taylor walked the full length and back to fulfill his 10,000 steps per day. |
 |
Jackie watched the pedestrian traffic. I walked to mid-river and back to rejoin her. |
 |
The horizontal wall protects Clarksville from high water. The walkway leads up to the bridge. |
 |
Taylor, who instructs college-level math, says mathematicians can read this. Can you? (ps: he told me the answer which I'd not gotten any other way) |

This was the lowest advertised price I've seen so far, though Jackie and Taylor improved upon that at the Kroger store where they pumped even cheaper gas into my thirsty pony. Many thanks, J & T. |
Departing was hard. My pony and I soldiered on to Little Rock. The day started chilly, but soon I was peeling layers. Blooming pear trees had started by Monday evening. By Tuesday afternoon they were everywhere along with purple plum blossoms and riding mowers along the roadways.
The roadways have been unspeakably chewed up. Some areas requiring close attention and great speed reductions. Smooth sailing relief is quickly followed by more alarming potholes. Many of those are filled as the southerly latitudes are reached, but are incredibly rough going despite reduced wheel-killer capacities.
Can't say what there was about Clinton's Presidential Library in Little Rock that was strange, but it was. As huge as the man's presence was and still is, the library itself didn't match that or the hospitable people at the doors or inside that welcomed one and all.
Nice setting though...

Another rail bridge originates in the associated park. It crosses the Arkansas River. This is a reflecting pool, however. |

From the second floor. |

Chihuly was great...again. Nice to see the real thing. |
I knew I was about to cross the Arkansas/Texas state line when a black, 4-wheel drive Chevy Suburban zoomed hell-bent into Texas with a huge hand drawn-lettered sign on the back window that said (big heart image) TED CRUZ.
George H.W. toll road completed my trip to Jim and Nancy's neighborhood. How great to see Jim and get to know Nancy.

Keoni reports that Toby has been out chasing birds in frustration with the news that I've been consorting with other cats (Beau and Buzzy at Jackie and Taylor's). Keoni is going to pass along my message to Toby that I won't cheat on him anymore. Maybe he'll leave the birds alone.
